Toastmasters International: Toastmasters International is a global non-profit organization that gives its members the opportunity to develop and improve their public speaking abilities through local club meetings, training seminars and speech contests.
Toastmasters was formed in 1924 by Dr. Ralph C. Smedley in California to afford practice and training in the art of public speaking and in presiding over meetings, and to promote sociability and good fellowship among its members. Toastmasters International now includes more than 200,000 members in more than 10,500 clubs in more than 90 countries.
Experienced professionals and beginning speakers alike can benefit from a practical, face-to-face learning program. Whether you're speaking to the board of directors, your customers, your coworkers or your kids, Toastmasters can help you do it better.You'll learn and practice in a friendly, comfortable environment with people who are there for the same reason you areto become better communicators.
Toast of the Fox Toastmasters Club #8325: Thisis a local chapter of Toastmasters Internationalbased in Elgin, IL and open to adults who wish to improve their communication and leadership skills. Most members live or work in the Fox Valley area.
A typical Toast of the Fox meeting includes 10-15 people and provides opportunities to practice conducting meetings, giving impromptu speeches, presenting prepared speeches, and offering constructive evaluation. Dress varies, but it is usually business casual. Guests are always welcome.
Location: Sears Gallery, Elgin Academy, 350 Park Street, Elgin, IL 60120.
Meeting times: We meet the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Meetings start at 7:15 p.m. and end at approximately 9:00 p.m.
